Bell Street Artists

The Bell Street Artists, founded in 1973, is comprised of distinguished artists from throughout Suffolk County, who share a deep passion for their work. This award-winning group has exhibited across the metropolitan area, and through its fund raising efforts has generated scholarships for hundreds of talented, young art students.

The artists are diverse in many ways including age, life-style and outside professions. Nor are the individual artists of Bell Street bound to one medium; some specialize in paintings, sculpture, ceramics or photography.

New members are selected on the basis of their artistic work and their compatibility with the entire group. The group holds three to five shows per year at schools, libraries and galleries. In addition, the Bell Street Artists promote art education; members of the group serve as mentors to local high school art students, while also giving demonstrations to elementary school students, offering adult education courses, and showing and discussing art movies. From the sale of their artwork, the members finance scholarships for young artists.

The Bell Street Artists also lend their time and talents to community projects such as donating their time and talents toward interior painting of the Patchogue Theater, a restored landmark.
