Peter Edwards, Photographer E. Setauket, NY; 631-689-2832
Peter Edwards has been a part-time professional and avid amateur photographer for more than 35 years and has been a member of Bell Street Artists since 2006. Born in New York City, he was raised and educated on Long Island. He attended The Ohio State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Peter’s first camera was purchased upon graduation and used extensively while serving in the U.S Army. There he developed his skills in black and white photographic printing. Peter’s initial interest in photography was to communicate through his photographs his affinity to the beauty of the natural environment. This motivational inspiration remains strong to this day.
Peter has also expanded his photographic resources through the use of medium and large format cameras, which provide the rich tones, and exquisite detail he strives to produce in support of each photograph’s artistic theme. Extensive travel throughout the United States and Canada has been important to Peter in his quest for photographs with artistic vision. Some of his favorite locations include the desert southwest, the Rocky Mountains and the eastern seacoast.
Today, Peter combines the world of photographic film with the new resources of the digital age. His negatives or slides are scanned into a computer. Peter also uses a digital camera to capture some of his images. They all are then digitally printed using the latest archival pigment inks onto acid-free cotton rag fine art inkjet paper.
