His pictorial compositions are sometimes whimsical in nature and often reflect bold linear designs and pure colors. The artist is also known for his found-object sculptures and toys, which are the humorous outgrowth of some of the images found in his paintings. He has exhibited his work on Long Island and the New York metropolitan area for the past 40 years and is also a member of the Bell St. Artists. His group exhibits include: St. Joseph’s College, Patchogue, NY, Polytechnic University, Farmingdale, NY, The University at Stony Brook, NY, Lincoln Square Gallery, New York, NY. His solo exhibits include: Yeshiva University Museum, New York, NY, York College Gallery, Jamaica, NY, and numerous public libraries and galleries. His work is represented in more than 700 public and private collections, including: Yeshiva University Museum, New York, NY, Philadelphia Free Library, Philadelphia, PA, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY, Martin Luther King Elementary School, Wyandanch, NY, Temple Gates of Zion, Valley Stream, NY, Ossining Public Library, Ossining, NY, Temple Beth El, Patchogue, NY, Connetquot Public Library, Bohemia, NY, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, East Patchogue, NY, Little Flower Children’s Services, Wading River, NY, and The Jewish Center of Center Moriches, Center Moriches, NY. In 2005, he completed a large mosaic at Temple Beth-El, Patchogue, NY, entitled "The Old Entry Way," which he began in 2000. Will Ryder was born in Ossining, NY in 1944. A graduate of the College at New Paltz (B.S. & M.S.) and New York University (Ed.D.). Dr. Ryder is the author of The Art Experience and Celebrating Diversity with Art. He has also illustrated Music in Your Classroom by Ruth Zinar and American History Through Multicultural Literature by Gerry Edwards.
